Mata Ortiz Ceramicist
Born on February 8, 1987 in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Adrian Corona Trillo is the son of celebrated artist Ana Trillo. Raised in the town of Mata Ortiz, where he attended primary, secondary and high school, Adrian studied tourism at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez at the Nuevo Casas Grandes campus between 2008-2012.
Adrian learned the art of Mata Ortiz pottery from his mother, starting when he was 15 years old. He has worked steadily, to perfect his skills and develop his own distinctive style and has participate in many competitions of the Mata Ortiz style. In 2010, Adrian participated in the national ceramics competition of Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, and was awarded first place in his category, for a piece titled Noche de Lobos. Adrian continues to enter competitions and has shown his art in many places throughout the United States, with exhibits in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tabac, and Tucson, Arizona, Denver Colorado, Utah and more.
