2025 TEXTILE TOUR

Woven Poetry of the Maya

Guatemala to Chiapas

December 1-16, 2025

Our tours are off

the beaten path...

Mexico is a colourful and vibrant country with countless treasures to explore and we love bringing guests to places that are either outside of the ordinary or less accessible for solo travellers.  For example, our Chiapas tour follows a route that is seldom navigated by large buses due to the potholes and occasional gravel patches, but that doesn't stop us from taking you on an adventure that offers rural views and a colourful tale to tell at the end.  What is travel worth, if you return without having experienced an epiphany or moment of growth?

and are definitely

not for everyone...

Most of our tours are very tame, but every-so-often, we embark on a more adventurous journey. Our most recent tour to the Copper Canyon included an exciting switch-back path along the edge of a ravine that had most of our guests holding their breath, and yet impressed them in profound ways upon reaping the gold at the end of the rainbow.  Not all of our tours are for everyone, but if you have an adventuresome spirit, can handle being flexible when conditions aren't luxury, are willing to even rough-it occasionally, you will probably love travelling with us.  If you have concerns about heights or rustic lodgings, please discuss this with us when you confirm your tour, as most of our tours are comfortable and don't involve switchbacks on mountain terrain...

2026 ARCHAEOLOGY,

BIRDS & TEXTILES

Ancient Mysticism

& the Maya

Chiapas, Mexico

March 17-31, 2026

We aim to create

eclectic itineraries...

Our birding tours are often centred around archaeological sites, offering guests the option of focussing on whatever interests them the most.  We also include mangroves and watersheds that are teeming with wildlife.  We like to include art workshops, artist studios, nature, boat rides, regional cuisine, comfort food, boutique hotels, eco-lodges, history, textiles, museums and presentations with experts or artists.  We've even been known to hire musicians for some of our events and dinner parties...

that begin and end in

easy to access places...

As our tours start in easy-to-access places, guests have the opportunity to arrive early or leave a few days later in order to explore on their own.  This gives us more opportunity to hit the road for more difficult places to access.  For example, our Chiapas tour ends in San Cristóbal de las Casas, where one could easily spend a month just people watching, taking in the night life and music, visiting the museums and exploring some of the nature parks we won't have time to cover in our itinerary.  If you're coming to Yucatan with us, arrive in Merida a week early to explore the city before we head to remote archaeological sites that are impossible to visit without a rental car or private guide.  Our Flamingos to Bacalar tour also offers guests the chance to extend your time at the beach for a good rest before leaving.  If you are considering an extension, please let us know so we can send you the hotel information.  We are happy to book your extra nights when we make our reservations, to save you having to change rooms or move hotels...

to Bacalar

Yucatan & Campeche, Mexico

Feb 23 - Mar 9, 2026

We book educational experts for academic interest....

We work with two scientists whose expertise is centred on the monarch butterfly migration, for incredible experiences in the monarch butterfly biosphere.  These trips also raise money for important science research, to assist with the protection of this phenomenal inter-generational migration that remains the only one of its' kind in the world. You could also join us for one of our birding tours, which include full services with an experienced ornithologist who is currently completing his PhD on Invasive Bird Species of Mexico.  We tend to frequent exceptional archaeological sites for our birding excursions, so guests are never bored nor tire of one subject.

But also work with artists for some creative fun....

Feeling creative or want to deepen your understanding of how things are made? Many of our tours include hands-on workshops with local artists so you can try your hand at basket-weaving, forging copper in fire, working on a loom, or painting a wooden mask.  We can organize a plethora of creative workshops or a cooking class for you by request, or can book you an unusual experience with a dear friend who creates Tableau Vivant style installations using people and props for art photographs!

2025 DIA DE MUERTOS

A Path of Altars

Patzcuaro, Michoacan Mexico

October 24-November 3, 2025

You can trust us to take good care of you and yours

Most of our guests are in their retirement years, have general mobility with some limitations, can walk but don't want to climb mountains, can't hear well, but still need ear-plugs for city centres during our holiday events, have had a knee replacement or need one, bring walking sticks, just in case, and most of all - hail from a pioneering generation that was curious and ready to reform the world when they were young, and they haven't forgotten....

We also know you are not 25 anymore - so we work really hard to limit our daily activities so you have time to relax with a nice glass of wine at the end of the day, to enjoy your lovely accommodations, views, company and much deserved tranquility.

And your belly will never be far from full...

Though yours truly isn't an overly adventurous eater, our meal times are thoughtfully considered for foodies with regards to offering regional specialties, a presentation that is out of this world, some occasional comfort-food or a charcuterie picnic in an unexpected location.  Please indicate food preferences when you confirm with us, and we will do our best to appease your appetite, whether that means eating street food or avoiding it at all costs...

But if you don't believe us, please check out our guest reviews....

We don't have many reviews, but so far they're decent!  We appreciate guests who write these, as we are a small solo-owned proprietorship that has to compete against major corporate entities.  That also means I personally research and write all of our tour content with feedback and suggestions from the guides who work with me, so we can curate incredible experiences that are not generic, cookie-cutter itineraries.  Our team brings immense passion to the table, and our reviews are evidence.  Please click on the Trip Advisor Icon to read our reviews!
