WHY BOOK THIS TOUR?
Start the New Year with a fun kayak adventure on Lake Purisma to visit the Church of Virgin of Dolores, which was drowned alongside her village due to the construction of a dam in 1979. In 2021, the waters of the lake had receded due to ongoing drought, revealing the majestic church for the first time in 40 years.
Visiting this interesting piece of history, with her ominous fate of drowning once more if rainfalls return, offers us a unique experience that is fun and includes a bit of exercise. A great way to get the new year started!
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES?
WEATHER:
It will be warm during the day while we are on the water, but chilly in the morning when we depart. Please dress in layers and bring a change of shoes in case your feet get wet. If you are fair, please remember that water reflection can elevate your chances of getting sunburned. Please bring sunglasses.
MOBILITY:
Guests must be flexible enough to get in and out of a kayak. Please let us know if you would like to a double kayak to share with someone else, or prefer a solo kayak. Preference for double kayaks will be for those who struggle with upper body strength, though the company does have several available.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
The company who guides us will provide photograpahs of our tour, so if you are nervous about having your camera on the kayak, at least we will receive some photographs. As we never leave home without ours, we will also be taking photos. All photos for this tour page are used with permission from Rica
PRICE INCLUSIONS & RESERVATIONS
The tour price of $2,200 MXN includes return ground transportation from Patzcuaro and Morelia to Lake Purisima for 14 Guests. We will confirm the price once we have 14 guests confirmed, so please share this with your friends!
Kayak tour with certified guide includes a lifejacket
Photo album will be sent to us following the tour, along with a Go-Pro video (duration of 2-3 minutes)
Lunch is separate so guests have control over your food budget.
Tips for your team leaders are discretionary and appreciated.
