TABLEAU VIVANT INSTALLATION ART OF JESUS ALEXANDRE, URUAPAN MICHAOCAN
Tableau Vivant has its roots in the Victorian Era, and peaked in popularity between 1830-1920. The translation "living pictures" describes their composition - a dramatic scene created with costumes, make-up, props and lighting to create a live painting. Jesus Alexandre has been a passionate photographer and artist since the late 1990's when he was a teenager. His works are theatrical in nature, and have crossed various genres from his Spirit of Michoacan series to responses to the environment and an intriguing and continually developing series of art installations inspired by Mexico's iconic Dia de Muertos. Forever evolving and creating, this artist has already amassed a prolific collection of works and we always look forward to seeing what is coming next.
We will be meeting Jesus Alexandre on the evening of February 1, and he will offer guests a chance to see select pieces from his collection. His prints will be available for purchase, mainly featuring his Spirit of Michaocan series. We will be posting more images here soon!
