This blouse is machine embroidered, though these pieces are still made manually. There are many of these on the market that are sold as "hand embroidered," but not all of them are. This piece is definitely embroidered by machine, as most now are.

THIS IS WHAT WE CALL THE MAYA RENAISSANCE
There has been an explosion of evolution within the artistic Maya community, rendering all sorts of modern styles for the fashion market. This includes leather boots and shoes with woven and embroidered panels, high-end leather handbags with woven panels, and items like this stunning wool coat.
In the village of San Juan Chamula, artists have woven wool tunics and skirts for generations, as part of their traditonal and ceremonial clothing. In recent years, women have opted for pleated blouses, with higher quality pieces made from silk, while budget-friendly prices are made from synthetic material. This piece is definitely synthetic.
When assessing blouses that look like satin, we still sell them as synthetic as we would need to do a burn test to find out if it is genuine.

HOW TO CARE FOR THIS BLOUSE
To extend the life of this piece, we always recommend hand washing them. Machine embroidery cannot stand-up to the spin-cycle of washing machines, so it is much better to soak in cold soapy water, rinse gently without wringing, and then lay flat on a rack or towel to dry. Never leave these pieces in direct sunlight. If you are hanging them on an outdoor line, dry them inside-out to avoid sun damange.
