THIS IS WHAT WE CALL THE MAYA RENAISSANCE
There has been an explosion of evolution within the artistic Maya community, rendering all sorts of modern styles for the fashion market. This includes leather boots and shoes with woven and embroidered panels, high-end leather handbags with woven panels, and items like this stunning dress.
This dress is a response to modern fashion, and is not something a traditional Maya woman would have worn even 5 years ago. The weave is deshilados style, which means the weft is missing in parts of the pattern to create a net-like fabric that is ventilated for hot weather. Adorable and handmade is what we love to see - and love to wear - and these clothes are breathable and so comfortable!

HOW TO CARE FOR THIS DRESS
To extend the life of this piece, we recommend handwashing it. Please do not every put this in the drier. This should be soaked, rinsed and gently squeezed to release the water. Please lay it out flat on a clean towell, or flat across a clothing rack. The weight of the water in the garment could damage it if hung to dry. If you take care of this piece, it should last for many years as a classic edition to your wardrobe.
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR WOVEN TREASURE AND WILL PASS IT DOWN THROUGH THE ART LOVERS IN YOUR FAMILY.
