THIS IS WHAT WE CALL THE MAYA RENAISSANCE
There has been an explosion of evolution within the artistic Maya community, rendering all sorts of modern styles for the fashion market. This includes leather boots and shoes with woven and embroidered panels, high-end leather handbags with woven panels, and items like this stunning wool coat.
In the town of Zinacantan, weavers are departing from the traditional styles of the past, evolving their works into fashionable pieces for our modern world. These blouses are elegant and timeless, yet still have hints of tradition along the waistline. The diamond patterns are synonymous with the Maya cosmos, and the deshilados technique was used in pre-Hispanic times.
Deshilados translates as "unravelling," and there are many variations for this technique. In this case, the weft is missing in rows, creating a fabric that is ventilated, rather than solid.

HOW TO CARE FOR THIS BLOUSE
To extend the life of this piece, we recommend hand washing it, gently squeezing the water out, and laying it flat on a clothing rack or dry towel. Due to the open-weave on this blouse, hanging it to dry could stretch it, due to the weight of the water. Never put this in the drier.
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR WOVEN TREASURE AND WILL PASS IT DOWN THROUGH THE ART LOVERS IN YOUR FAMILY.
